Course Overview

This introductory course covers the basic skills necessary to start using Excel with confidence. You’ll learn how to navigate the Excel interface, enter and organise data, perform basic calculations, and create simple charts and visualizations.

Target Audience

This course is designed for individuals new to Excel or those seeking to build confidence in using basic spreadsheet tools and functions.

Excel Interface Overview:

  • Workbook, worksheet, rows, columns, cells, ribbon, and tabs.

Data Entry:

  • Entering, editing, deleting, and copying/pasting data.

Formatting Cells:

  • Font styles, sizes, colors, cell borders, and alignment.

Basic Formulas and Functions:

  • Basic math operations: Addition (+), subtraction (-), multiplication (*), division (/).
  • Simple functions: SUM, AVERAGE, MIN, MAX, COUNT.

Excel Tools

  • Using Autofill and Flash Fill: Automatically filling cells with data, patterns, or sequences.
  • Sorting and Filtering Data: Sorting data alphabetically or numerically and filtering specific values.
  • Introduction Charts and Graphs: Creating simple charts like bar charts, line charts, and pie charts.
  • Worksheet Management: Renaming, moving, copying, hiding, and deleting worksheets.

By the end of the course, you'll be able to use Excel for essential tasks in data entry, formatting, and analysis.
